Abstract
397,262. Cables. HENLEY'S TELEGRAPH WORKS CO., Ltd., W. T., 11, Holborn Viaduct, London, and SAVAGE, J. H., 13, Danson Mead, Welling, Kent. May 17, 1932, No. 13996. [Class 36.] A cable of low electrostatic capacity comprises one or more wires 1 embedded in or otherwise attached to a twisted rubber strip 2 which is of uniform width and is enclosed within a rubber tube 3, the edges of the strip 2 being vulcanized to the tube 3 and the dimensions of the various components of the cable being such that a considerable air space is formed between the wires and the enclosing tube. The twisting of the strip 2, which is preferably formed by pressing together two rubber strips around the wires 1, may be effected by rotating the strip as it is fed to the tube extending machine which applies the tube 3 or the strip 2 may be manufactured with a preformed twist by rotating the rolls which press the rubber strips around the wires.
