Abstract

396,944. Reciprocating pumps. JORGENSEN, O. E., 39, Church Road, Gosforth, Newcastle-on-Tyne. Sept. 5, 1932, No. 24719. [Class 102 (i).] Hydraulic steering- gears for ships include a pump actuated by the main engine and provided with a byepass valve under the control of an accumulator piston, which is in equilibrium between the discharge pressure on one side and a weight, spring or air pressure on the other side. The pump plunger 27 is driven by an arm 18 off the main engine and has a valve 28 which is controlled by an arm 35 attached to a shaft 36. The delivery passage 31 communicates through a pipe with the b ottom of a plunger 34 which abuts against the arm 35 and it is spring biased downwardly by a spring acting through a lever 37 on the shaft 36.
