396,685. Expansion joints for pipes. BERLIN-KARLSRUHER INDUSTRIEWERKE AKT.-GES., 63, Gartenstrasse, Karlsruhe, Baden, Germany.-(Assignees of Ullmann, T.; Finkenkrug, near Spandau, Germany.) Nov. 6, 1931, No. 30863. Convention date, Nov. 6, 1930. Void [Published under Sect. 91 of the Acts]. [Class 99 (i).] The Specification does not permit of satisfactory abridgment but the invention is stated to be " a relieved, axially movable, pipe compensator or expansion member comprising a plurality of members resilient in the axial direction, or groups of such members, arranged in series." As shown in the Figure the compensator comprises three aligned pipes A, B, D, presumably corrugated, the cross-sectional area F2 of the pipe B being twice that F1 of the pipes A, D and the joints a, d and b, c being connected by lever mechanism s1, s2 respectively. Two modified constructions are also described.
