Abstract

396,570. Packing cigarettes. CHALMERS, J. W. and MOLINS MACHINE CO., Ltd., 2, Evelyn Street, Deptford, London. Sept. 20, 1932, No. 26150. [Class 94 (i).] The protective wrapping for a batch of articles, to be inserted in an outer shell or container, such as cigarettes, is formed in two parts, which overlap to form a substantially airtight wrapping, so that one of the parts may be completely removed, when desired, to expose one end of the articles. The wrapping, either with or without a lining sheet, may be formed round the batch of articles and the ends folded in, as shown in Figs. 1 and 3, it may comprise block-ended cups as shown in Fig. 6, or one wrapping may be folded in and the other comprise a block-ended cup as shown in Fig. 5. If the ends are folded in the upper wrapping is removed, when desired, by first lifting one of the folded edges to form a hand hold, as shown in Fig. 3. If blocked ended cups are used a tab such as 16, Fig. 6, is either affixed to the end of the cup or cut out of the wrapping to provide a hand hold for removing the wrapping ; whilst if the ends are folded in and secured by adhesive, a small portion at the extreme edge of the fold is left unsecured, as shown in Fig. 5, for this purpose.
