Abstract
396,286. Printing-machines. NATIONAL BANK OF HUNGARY, 8, Szabadsagter, and HEINRICH, F. VON, 13, Marko Utca, both in Budapest. Jan. 2, 1933, No. 54. Convention date, Feb. 25, 1932. [Class 100 (ii).] Inking-apparatus.-In a high-speed intaglio printing-press, the ink is applied to the plate in a layer which gradually decreases in thickness from front to rear edge in proportion to the degree of saturation of the wiping material, so that after wiping the plate will be evenly inked and less ink will be wasted. An intermediate roller 1, Fig. 3, between, and driving frictionally, a duct roller and a plate-inking roller, not shown, is driven from a shaft 14 through planet gearing 15, 16, 17. The two planet wheels 16 are borne on an arm 7 which is oscillated by a cam and roller 11, 12. The planet gears produce a rotation in the roller shaft in an opposite direction to that of the driving-shaft 14, so that the acceleration of the planet wheels 16 round their own axes and round that of the shaft 14 produce an additive acceleration on the roller shaft. As the planet wheels are accelerated the roller 1 is accelerated, and vice versa. Retardation takes place while the plate is passing under the inking-roller and results in a gradual diminution of the thickness of the ink layer, and the rollers are then accelerated again in time for the inking of the next plate. In the modified form illustrated in Fig. 5, a casing 13 is oscillated about the axis 14 by the cam 11, and carries gear wheels 16a .. 16d. The gear-wheel 15 on the axis 14 drives the gear-wheel 16a, and the gearwheel 16b, which is fast to the shaft of the gearwheel 16a, drives the gear-wheel 16c. The gear-wheel 16d fast to the shaft of the gearwheel 16c drives a gear-wheel 17 which is fast to the shaft of the roller 1. The oscillation of the casing 13 produces the retardation and acceleration of the roller 1. The amount of variation in thickness of the ink-layer can be varied by altering the length of the arm 7. The invention may be applied to a multicolour machine in which several duct-rollers co-operate with one collecting roller and one inking-roller.
