Abstract
396,166. Furniture joints. DUNNICLIFF, H., 5, Peel Avenue, Ardwick. Manchester. April 7, 1932, No. 9955. [Class 52 (ii).] The legs of a table are detachably connected to the side bars of the frame by groove or slot and tenon joints, angle brackets and clips, and the top is connected to the legs by spigot and socket joints. Fig. 1 shows the corner of a table a with side and end rails a<1>, the ends of which do not abut. At their ends are blocks c connected by an approximately triangular plate d, shown screwed to the undersides of the blocks. Each leg, Fig. 2, has grooves l<1> which receive the ends of the rails a<1>, and has a bore containing a socket m into which fits a pin b with a large head b<1> attached to the underside of the top a. Clips n with upturned parts n<1> engage with lugs d<1> on the plate d. In a modification, the plate d consists of a rectangular plate bent to a right-angle with a re-entrant right-angle at the bend. This is attached to the vertical surfaces of the rails a<1> so as to embrace the corner of the leg l. The clip n may be in two parts.
