A collapsible shelf unit for a table comprises relatively thicker rods 3 passed through apertures in plastics elements 5 push-fitted on the ends of relatively thinner rods 4, rods 3 being parallel to the transverse axis of the table top and sprung between opposite pairs of the table legs 2. The legs may detachably secured to the top, e.g. by brackets, and are splayed outwardly parallel to the rods 4. The rods 3 are longer than the distance between the opposite pair of legs and insertion of the unit splays the legs in a direction normal to the initial splaying. In a modification the rods 3 are parallel to the longitudinal axis of the top. The collapsible shelf unit and detached legs, with or without the table top, are sold as a kit of parts.
