Abstract

689,749. Tables; furniture frames. KING- FISHER. Ltd. Aug. 16, 1951 [Aug. 8, 1950]. No. 19721/50. Addition to 640,867. Classes 52(ii) and 52(iii) Improvements in or modifications of the invention described in the parent Specification comprise the provision of. a shelf situated below the table top and so.supported and of such dimensions that it does not interfere with the positioning of several tables with their tops 'in alignment and also the replacement of U-shaped metal tubular legs by wooden legs. As shown in Fig. 1 a shelf d is supported on longitudinal rods the cranked ends e of which are welded &c. to the legs b, c, the width and length of the shelf d being such that it does not interfere with the legs of the adjacent tables when the tables are assembled in side-by-side arrangement. A rim f may be provided on the shelf d. In a modification of this arrangement the shelf-supporting rods may be bent so that those on each side approachy one another at the centre and may be welded together at that point. In..another arrangement the longitudinal rods may be welded to transverse rods welded to the legs. Fig. 5 shows a table having wooden legs n jointed to cross rails l to which are also jointed bars r for supporting the shelf q.
