Abstract

916,363. Foldable tables. JOOS, E. March 21, 1961 [March 29, 1960], No. 10322/61. Class 52 (3). A foldable picnic table has a top comprising two sheet metal sections 1, 2, each having affixed thereto on three sides channel members 3 and the sections being hinged together on the fourth side to form, when folded, a box to contain supporting legs and the sections 1, 2 are held in their erected position by a pair of resilient bars 10, one pivoted to each section about two mutually perpendicular axes by means of a link 11 to be swingable beyond the hinge and be secured at the free end to the other section by a slidable catch member 12, Each table leg comprises three resilient rods 21. 22, 23 having bent ends 24 of which the ends of rods 21, 22 pivotally fit in aligned apertures in lugs 14 and the end of rod 23 is fitted into an aperture in a lug 19 against resilient bias caused by a common foot 25. Bar 10 is held in stowed position by a rod 21 which engages a notch in a doubly bent part 27 of the bar which thus in its stowed position divides the box-like space into two compartments, the inner of which may house stools.
