Abstract

396,022. High-frequency transformers. HAZELTINE CORPORATION, 15, Exchange Place, New Jersey, U.S.A.- (Assignees of Macdonald, W. A. ; Little Neck, New York, U.S.A.) Oct. 19, 1931, No. 29053. Convention date, Nov. 28, 1930. Void [Published under Sect. 91 of the Acts]. [Class 38 (ii).] Comprises a high-frequency transformer for use in a valve circuit of the type described in Specification 312,354, [Class 40 (v), Wireless signalling &c.], and consists in an arrangement of the primary and secondary windings to obtain a given amount of inductive and capacitive coupling between them. The secondary is a distributed winding 21 having an axial length greater than its diameter and is mounted on an insulating tube 20, the lead from the high tension end being connected to a terminal 22. The primary is a coil 26 of greater number of turns than the secondary, wound in a slot in a disc 24 which is mounted in the tube 20 remote from the high tension end of the secondary. The transformer is mounted on a metal panel 39 and covered with a metal case 29 which serves as an electrostatic shield. The connections from the windings are taken to terminals 22, 23, 27, 28 arranged in such a manner as to give least capacitive coupling. In modifications the terminal 22 is omitted and one end of each winding connected to a single terminal, and the terminals are re-arranged to obtain different amounts of capacitive coupling. In a further modification, to increase the capacitive coupling, the primary is mounted at the high tension end of the secondary. To obtain a further adjustment of the capacitive coupling the depth of the slot in which the primary coil is wound is adjusted.
