Abstract
481,516. Cathode-ray tubes. BAIRD TELEVISION, Ltd., and GILBERT, A. H. Sept. 11, 1936, No. 24809: [Class 39 (i)] The invention relates to magnetic electron beam deflecting systems of the type comprising an open ferro-magnetic core 5 carrying windings 4 through which a varying electric current passes, the limbs of the core embracing the electron discharge device in which a deflecting field is to be produced. In order that the deflecting field may increase in linear relation to time, at least one short-circuited winding 6 surrounds the core. The coupling between the coils 4, 6 may be varied by altering the position of the coil 6, which may have from one to four turns of resistance wire so that its L : R ratio is low. A short circuited coil may be placed near the end of each limb. According to the Provisional Specification, the shortcircuited coil may be of low resistance.
