Abstract

395,111. Valve circuits. NAAMLOOZE VENNOOTSCHAP PHILIPS' GLOEILAMPENFABRIEKEN, 13D, Emmasingel, Eindhoven, Holland. April 9, 1932, No. 10246. Convention date, April 25, 1931. [Classes 40 (iii) and 40 (v).] A filter having a characteristic 1 in the absence of dissipation or 2 when the impedance elements have appreciable resistance is flattened to forms 3, 4, by different degrees of backcoupling to the input valve. Preferably the coupling impedance is constituted by part of the resistance R2, the remainder of which provides coupling to a second valve through an output transformer T. The invention utilizes the fact that the phase-lag introduced by the filter varies with frequency: the voltage fed back at the peak frequency C is in opposite phase to the input voltage at that frequency. In the example shown the amplification at frequencies A, C, E is reduced by the back-coupling and at frequencies B, D; it is increased. The terminal impedances are matched to the filter.
