Abstract
337,830. Radio Frequency Laboratories, Inc. June 8, 1929, [Convention date]. Thermionic amplifiers. -A thermionic amplifier adapted to be tuned over a band of frequencies includes a series impedance common to both grid and plate circuits, the impedance being resonant at the lower limit of the frequency band. The composite impedance, constituted by inductance L5 and condenser C5, Fig. 2, is connected between the cathode and the junction of the grid and plate circuits and is shown in parallel with a grid biasing resistor &c. The arrangement constitutes a reaction coupling between the plate and grid circuits, the effective signal voltage between grid and cathode being reduced at higher frequencies since the radio frequency potential drop across L5, C5, increases with the frequency. In a modification, Fig. 3, not shown, the inductances L5 is in series and condenser C5 in parallel with the resistor RC; the total impedance is however effectively in shunt across the resistor. Specification 294,200 is referred to. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 (3) (a) states that the invention may also be applied to audio-frequency amplifiers, and the impedance may be chosen to effect a cut-off at or near a disturbing frequency. This subjectmatter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
