Abstract

394,939. Vehicle-lamp refiectors. SCHIMPFF, E., 717, Harrison Avenue, Scranton, Pennsylvania, U.S.A. April 13, 1933, No. 11159. Convention date, April 14, 1932. [Class 75 (ii).] A vehicle-lamp reflector is of substantially parabolic form with a smooth upper half 10 and a lower half which is formed with an outer series of symmetrical dihedrons 12, the sides 16, 17 of which form equal angles with planes passing through the axis of the reflector, and with an inner series of dihedrons 11 each having a relatively wide surface 14 conforming longitudinally to a parabolic surface and a relatively narrow surface 15 substantially radial to the axis of the reflector. The surfaces 14 are flat laterally and are bent inwardly about 15‹ to planes tangential to the parabolic surface so as to deflect light towards the sides of the road. The surfaces 16, 17 are preferably at 45‹ to the tangents, and the dihedrons 12 are smaller than and preferably only half the length of the dihedrons 11.
