Abstract
394,629. Centrifugal fans. ELECTROLUX, Ltd., 153, Regent Street, London.- (Assignees of Inventia Patent-Verwertunga- Ges. ; 10, Herrenacker, Schaffhausen, Switzerland.) March 14, 1933, No. 7716. Convention date, March 14, 1932. [Class 110 (i).] A vacuum cleaner comprising a centrifugal fan suction unit driven by an electric motor on a. vertical shaft is supported by springs 28 during non-rotation of the motor. When operating, the fans 12 create a suction in the chamber above the wall 24 which causes a lifting of the motor-fan unit, and relieves in part the load on springs 28. Upon further lifting of the unit the end 33 presses upwards against a yoke 29 which normally rests on a fixed part of the casing, or compression springs. Springs 30 anchor the yoke 29 to the casing. Blocks of rubber or the like 31 separate the yoke 29 from the wall 20 of the suction chamber, and a similar ring 27 prevents the entry of air at atmospheric pressure. Air enters through a port 15, is filtered by a chamber 14, passes down a tube 16 and enters the fan chamber through a hole 17. The air is expelled through outlets 18, or by way of a pipe 19 for blowing operations. A resilient ring 23, of rubber or the like, has one end 25 clamped to the fan chamber, and the other 26 screwed to the casing. The springs 28, 30 may be in alignment and fitted with stops at their outer ends, or they may be combined into one spring, the motor-fan unit being suspended from the middle of the spring. In the latter case the one spring may be replaced by several springs.
