Abstract

719,044. Suction cleaners. GENERAL ELECTRIC CO. Jan. 26, 1963 [Jan. 30, 1952], No. 2176/53. Class 8 (1). A, vertical tank type suction cleaner casing comprises an upper hollow cylindrical portion 4 having a substantially radially inwardly extending flange 21 to which is secured e.g., by screws 19 an end portion 18 of less diameter than the upper portion 4; the end portion being in turn secured e.g., by screws 22 to a cupshaped base 11 having an upper end open to atmosphere below the flange 21 and also being connected by a passage 26 with the end portion 18 to allow exhaust of air from the fan 8. The outlet from the base 11 extends round the casing portions 4, 18 and is packed with glass wool to effect silencing. A control switch 16 is actuated by a treadle 13 pivoted to the base 11.
