394,478. Reducing grain. ZATHURECZKY, E., Celovce, Post Upor, Czecho- Slovakia. May 27, 1932, No. 15133. Convention date, June 5, 1931. [Class 58.] Cereals are reduced by feeding the grains into radial guides on a rotating member near to the axis of rotation and centrifuging them at high velocity on to impact surfaces. As shown, a rotating disc 2 is provided with ribs or vanes 3 by which cereals entering by a funnel 4 are thrown onto impact surfaces 5 surrounding the disc. The impact surfaces may be fixed and inclined so that the cereal strikes the surface in a normal direction. The impact surfaces may be adjustable in inclination, the surfaces being pivoted and interconnected by links which are operated simultaneously. A hood may be used to cover the ribs on the disc or tubes may be used instead of vanes. An additional impulse may be applied to the cereal by compressed air. The impact surfaces may be ribbed or made hollow for receiving cooling water.
