[Class 135.] A device for preventing water hammer in pipes comprises an elastic tube of canvasreinforced rubber or other suitable material 1 fitted with adapters 4, 5 for attachment to a water pipe and enclosed in a rigid tubular casing 2 which receives the adaptors in its ends and is fixed thereto independently of the joint between the adaptors and the rubber tube so as to enclose and protect both the rubber tube and the joints.
