Abstract

393,759. Shoe fastenings. LOVE, A., 95, Sutherland Street, Paddington, New South Wales, Australia. June 27, 1932, No. 18071. [Classes 17 (ii) and 43.] In shoe fastenings, two metal rods 10, adjustable in length, are loosely hinged at one end and are adapted for releasable engagement at their other ends, each of the rods being connected to eyelets 9 on a side of the shoe 7 by a number of elastic members or rubber loops 11. Each rod consists of a tubular part 10<1> and a part 10<2>, preferably solid, slidable therein, as shown in Fig. 3. The hinge comprises a down-turned hook 13 and an offset eye 12. The parts 10<1> carry offset lugs 15, serving as finger grips, one having a hook 17 adapted to engage an eye 16 on the other. The rubber loops 11 are each separately attached to an eyelet, Fig. 6, by an anchor plate 18 having a hook 19 bent over to engage the loop. Stop-lugs 14 may be provided on the parts 10<2> to limit movement of the parts 10<1> and so prevent jamming of the hinge.
