323,319. Andre, T. B. Nov. 16, 1928. Hook fastenings; stud-and-eye fastenings. - A fastening device made of rubber has hard vulcanized end portions, the intermediate portion being flexible. Alternatively, the end portions may be reinforced with a woven fabric &c. core,. or, according to the Provisional Specification, with wire. Fig. 1 shows the invention applied to a motor-car bonnet fastening. The device comprises a hard vulcanized or reinforced base C, which may have a metal case C<2>, serving for attachment to the chassis by screws C<1>. Alternatively, a pivoted attachment may be provided. The intermediate portion A is flexible and may be provided with a swelling D serving as a buffer. The free end above line B, B has a hard vulcanized or reinforced finger-piece A<2> and and eye A<1> adapted to engage a stud &c. on the bonnet. The eye may be further reinforced by a metal eyelet sprung into place and the fingerpiece may be in the form of a loop. Fig. 6 shows a cabin hook comprising a hand base J<3> which may be tapered to fit in a corresponding fixture M, and a hardened free end with lateral projections J<1> and a hook J<2> adapted to engage a staple of ordinary type, not shown. The fastening device may be formed on the end of a flexible or elastic strap.
