Abstract
393,752. Rectifying alternating current. INTERNATIONAL GENERAL ELECTRIC CO., Inc., 120, Broadway, New York, U.S.A.-(Assignees of Allgemeine Elektricitõts-Ges.; 2, Friedrich Karl-Ufer, Berlin.) June 6, 1932, No. 15994. Convention date, June 6, 1931. [Class 38 (ii).] Comprises a rectifying arrangement in which a spark-gap is rythmically broken down by means of an element periodically introduced into the gap which upsets the homogenity of the field and causes breakdown, the element being so dimensioned as not substantially to vary the length of the gap. In one form the electrode c, Fig. 1, of a gap b, c is rotated by means of a synchronous motor e so that a small projection d is introduced into the gap once every cycle to cause the gap to break down. In a modification, Fig. 2,. a rotating point d is disposed so that once every cycle it projects through a slot in the electrode c and causes breakdown of the gap. In a further modification the point d oscillates. Specification 282,020, [Class 38 (ii), Electric currents, Converting &c.], is referred to.
