Abstract
393,667. Spring upholstery. WATSON, A. P., 3A, Little Patrick Street, Belfast. Dec. 15, 1931, No. 34691. [Class 52 (iv).] In a spring surface for mattresses, beds, spring-upholstered furniture, and like articles of the kind comprising strips of woven wire 2 alternating with compression springs 3, the wire and springs being connected together by clips or ties, or by being woven together at their edges, the springs are supported by laths 4 or the like connected by flexible or resilient means to the frame 1a of the article. The connecting means may comprise springs 5 connected to leather or other flexible straps secured at their ends to the frame or the springs may be connected to rods 6, Fig. 4, attached at their ends to the frame by flexible or resilient means such as springs 7. To take up sag the strips 2 are connected to a longitudinally-adjustable bar 9. More than one woven wire strip may be interposed between any two rows of the springs 3. The springs may be positioned by rods 10 passing through their top coils.
