Abstract

<PICT:0392240/IV/1> An apparatus for drying or steaming agricultural products such as cotton, cut grass, corn stalks, potatoes, &c. is stated in the Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 to be applicable to the treatment of any agricultural product with a gaseous agent. The statement does not appear in the Specification as accepted. The apparatus comprises a drum 1 rotated by gearing 5, 3 with a stationary part 14 through which the air &c. is admitted. The material is fed at 18 into a stationary drum 17 having a hollow core 20 rotated by gearing 5a, 3a. Rams 21 rotate with the core 20 and are reciprocated by a stationary arm 23, pressing forward the material in the form of a hollow cylinder between a perforated hollow core 28 and guide-bars 9. The air is drawn through by a fan 25, or may be passed through in the reverse direction. Specification 221,195, [Class 6 (iii), Harvesting-appliances], is referred to.
