Void [Published under Sect. 91 of the Acts]. Class 98 (ii).] For a multi-layer film or a tripack, emulsions are used in which a proportion of silver has been reduced by the dilution of a normal emulsion with gelatin to such an extent that the resulting emulsion is unsuitable for normal purposes. The sensitivity of the emulsion is increased before dilution by ripening or other means to such an extent that in its undiluted form would give the emulsion cloudy images, but after dilution a film of sufficient sensitivity and gradation is obtained with no greater degree of cloudiness than is shown by normal emulsions. Developers with a high alkali content are used, e.g. metol and caustic soda. The films of a film pack in which one or more of the films are exposed through the base are developed separately.
