Abstract

382,815. Photographic reversal processes. I. G. FARBENINDUSTRIE AKT.- GES., Frankfort-on-Main, Germany. Jan. 18, 1932, No. 1481. Convention date, Jan. 17, 1931. [Class 98 (ii).] In the reversal development of silver images without a second exposure to light, the use of an alkali sulphide for the second development is avoided by substituting an alkaline developer, such as metol-hydroquinone, containing a small quantity of an odourless sulphur compound, such as thiosinamine, or thiourea, which does not colour the finished picture and is capable of forming developable nuclei of silver sulphide. The second development is possible by a lengthy action (e.g. 20 minutes) of the alkaline developer alone ; the addition of the sulphur compound shortens the time of development considerably (e.g. to 1 minute). The compound may be made up with a developer in solid form.
