Abstract

447,390. Reproducing opaque originals by contact printing. N A A M L O O Z E VENNOOTSCHAP CHEMISCHE FABRIEK L. VAN DER GRINTEN. Venlo, Limburg, Holland. Aug. 10, 1934, No. 23197. Void [Abridged as open to inspection under Sect. 91 of the Acts, Feb. 12, 1935]. Drawings to Specification. [Class 98 (ii)] In the reproduction of opaque originals by reflex contact printing, the light is passed before its passage through the sensitive layer through a. dividing screen which subdivides it into small beams of greater actinic intensity separated by regions of less actinic intensity and the sensitive layer is so adjusted with respect to the dividing screen so as to make the intersection space of the beams of greater actinic intensity with the sensitive layer relatively small. A lenticular dividing screen with a high ratio between the focal length of the lenses and the thickness of the sensitive layer may be employed. A punctiform, linear, or band like source of light may be used. The system to be illuminated may have the form of a circular cylinder, or may be moved in the surface of a circular cylinder in the axis of which the source of light is located. The sensitive material may comprise transparent foil, such as celluloid, sensitized on both sides or through the entire mass with paradiazodiphenylamine, which is developed with an alkaline solution of an azo coupling component, or may be sensitized with fine-grained silver bromide emulsion.
