Abstract

390,978. Coin-freed apparatus. HARPER, P. S., Adelaide House, Ashurst Walk, Croydon. July 6, 1932, No. 19106. [Class 27.] Testing coins.-Coins inserted in a shoot 2, Fig. 1, having an inclined base 12 roll with a constant initial velocity along a shoot 1 carried by a pivoted arm 3 provided with adjustable counterweights 6, Fig. 3. The arm 3 is held by the weights 6 against a stop 7 with the shoot 1 oblique to a vertical slot 9 in a plate 8. The rolling coin depresses the shoot 1 about the pivot 4, which is parallel to the shoot, and, if the coin is of correct weight, the shoot comes into alignment with the slot 9 and the coin passes through this slot to a shoot 10 leading to the coin-freed mechanism. If the coin is light or over weight, the shoot fails to be in alignment with the slot 9 when the coin leaves it, and such a coin drops to a rejected coin receptacle 11 on the near side of the plate 8. The plate 8 is adjustable in position by means of elongated slots 14.
