Abstract

394,106. Testing coins. HARPER, P. S., Adelaide House, Ashurst Walk, Croydon. April 14, 1932, No. 10701. [Class 27.] In an apparatus for testing coins by weight and diameter, primarily for use in coin-freed apparatus, a coin rolling down a shoot formed by two plates 1, 2 passes over a pivoted plate 5 having an upturned lip 6 to support laterally the bottom of the coin, the top of which, if the coin is of proper size, rests against the adjustable top edge of an aperture 12 in the plate 2. The plate 5 is pivoted at 8 between a pair of supports 9 fixed to the wall 1, the pivoted axis being parallel to the shoot, and the plate has an adjustable counterbalance 10, 11. If the coin is overweight, the plate 5 tilts and the coin, not being then supported at the top, falls sideways, through the aperture 12 in a direction away from the axis 8. A second testing plate for underweight coins may be provided, the proper coins falling through the aperture 12.
