Abstract
390,778. Coke ovens. CROWTHER, R. W., 68, Northfield Way, and JENKINS & CO., Ltd., W. J., Beehive Works, both in Retford, Nottinghamshire. Nov. 29, 1932, No. 33780. [Class 55 (i).] To enable distillates to be withdrawn from, or steam to be admitted to the charge in a vertical coke oven or retort, spaced ledges are supported by the bottom door forming a free space in direct communication with the lower part of the charge. The door 2 has bolted to it a series of sections each having a base 7, archlike vertical webs 8, and horizontal webs 9 arranged to overlap to an extent to prevent fuel from entering the free space 12 below. This space 12 leads to a gas outlet pipe 13, and affords also means for supplying steam from nozzles 14.
