Abstract

Alkyd resins modified with a drying or semi-drying oil or acids thereof with or without the addition of rosin or other natural acid resin such as kauri, resin Congo, or ester gum or naphthenic acid containing where the oil is the only modification less than 23 per cent alkyd resin are described. In a table resins derived from the following are described: glycerol, phthalic anhydride, linseed oil acids alone and with rosin, kauri; glycerol, phthalic anhydride, tung oil acids and perilla oil, coco nut oil acids, menhaden oil, rosin and deodorized sardine oil, or linseed oil acids and rosin; glycerol, succinic acid, linseed oil acids, and rosin. Specification 313,433, [Class 22, Cements &c.], 347,826, and 388,746, [both in Group VIII], are referred to.
