[Class 87 (ii).] Concrete pipes are moulded in situ or lined by the use of a core formed in two arcuate parts, each part comprising a curved portion 9 and hinged flaps 15 stiffened by semicircular ribs, the free ends of the flap ribs being connected by universal couplings 19, 20, to toggle bars 18 pivoted to a sliding rod 24 by which thd flaps are expanded and contracted. The parts of the core are superposed to form a cylinder, stepped joints 16, 17 being provided at the edges of the parts. For heavy cores, the lower core part is provided with adjustable rollers 42 at each end, so that it can be easily withdrawn after the casting operation and the upper core portion may be provided with rollers 55 for a similar purpose. The core parts may be used separately, the lower half core being withdrawn before the upper half core is positioned. The ends of each portion are recessed at 36 so that the outer surfaces of the continuous cores are flush. An outer top moulding frame 25 provided with lower pivoted flaps 31 adapted to move outwardly and upper pivoted flaps 29 adapted to move inwardly may be used with the core, and the material is then fed through an aperture in the top frame between the upper pivoted flaps 29.
