Abstract

156,385. Turner, W. Nov. 29, 1919. Casting in situ.-A core for use in the casting of conduits is formed of upper and lower longitudinal sections a, c separated by intermediate sections b adapted to be expanded and contracted transversely by means of right and left hand screws h supported in bearings in the core section. The top supporting-surface of the intermediate sections is formed with downwardly and outwardly sloping portions so that the core is self centring, and collapsable on contracting the sides transversely. The inclined surfaces of the top portion may be covered by plates m and a templet may be used surrounding the end of the core to shape the end section of the conduit as they are cast. A broadfaced wheel with convex face may be fitted to the invert section c so that it can be easily drawn forward through the sewer.
