188,201. Gordon, F. F., and Spear & Jackson, Ltd. Nov. 3, 1921. Drills.-Hollow billets for the manufacture of hollow drills &c. are made by casting metal around a hollow metal cylinder. Mild steel tubes k are mounted in recesses c of runner bricks a which are jointed at f, g and provided with gates d to supply metal to the split moulds e. The top= of the tubes are steadied by covers h. In a modification each brick is arranged to carry two or more tubes and moulds Fig. 5. The billet is then rolled or hammered down to the required size.
