389,749. Brush-holders for dynamoelectric machines. BRITISH THOMSONHOUSTON CO., Ltd., Crown House, Aldwych, London.-(Assignees of Burnham, J. L. ; 1555, Wendell Avenue, Schenectady, New York, U.S.A.) Sept. 23, 1932, No. 26485. Convention date, Sept. 24, 1931. [Class 35.] A holder for two brushes comprises a pair of arms'in vertical alignment, the arms having a common pivot, one arm having an opening to permit a portion of the other arm to extend therethrough and a linkage mechanism connecting the arms for transmitting the pressure of, an adjustable spring so that the pressure exerted by the brushes on which the arms press is substantially equalized. In the form shown, the arms 6, 7 are interconnected by the linkwork 21, 25 and are pivotally connected to the holder by riveting them to plates 10, 11 respectively of hubs 12, 13 arranged on a pin 14 secured in brackets 15 on the holder. The hubs 12, 13 are surrounded by a spring 28 having one end 29 bearing on the linkwork and the other end 30 is hooked in notches 31 in a plate 32 secured on one of the brackets 15. The arm 7 has an opening through which the part 6<1> of arm 6 may pass and the brushes may be separated by a partition.
