[Class 35.] In a brush-holder which has two or more supporting parts arranged tangentially opposite each other in the direct vicinity of the sliding surface, and has supports which are unyielding in the tangential direction but permit radial movement, the said supports grip the brush material directly and in the vicinity of the sliding surface, no brush play being permitted. When there are two or more brushes in a holder, the frame may contain three axial members, one to carry the radial acting support and the other two, which are close to the sliding surface, carry the tangentially acting supports. In the form shown, the bars 1, 2, 3 are connected by a plate 7, there being a similar plate at the other end, and these two plates which may be shaped as isoceles triangles may also be connected by stays 20. Approximately at the centre of the plate 7 is an eye 9 having its axis parallel to the bars 1-3 to receive the holder support. Each brush is pressed against the sliding surface by the action of the spring 14 on the bolt 12 and the brushes are also gripped by spring plates 10 which are slotted in the tangential direction to form tongues. The bolt may project into holes in the brushes or may be gripped by or secured to a plate attached to the brush material.
