[Class 100 (ii).] In a machine for casting stereotype plates and for backing electrotypes, comprising a metal pot a having an outlet slot b, a mould adapted to be moved against the pot with its inlet in register with the outlet slot b, and a valve or cock turning in bearings c to open and close the outlet slot b to separate, when closed, the cast plate from the contents of the pot. wedge-shaped thickenings e are provided on the wall of the pot at the ends of the outlet slot to prevent the pot from cracking at the ends of the slot during the operation of the cock. The mould is correspondingly shaped at the ends to enable it to be fitted close to the pot outlet.
