Abstract

503,412. Service conduits in walls &c. BEYTS, L. S. Oct. 5, 1937, No. 26902. [Class 20 (ii)] Service conduits in walls, floors, &c. of the type adapted to be closed by a removable closure element supported on bearers on opposite sides of the conduit, have the bearers 10 supported and distanced by intermediate spacers 15 which are removed after the concrete has been cast about the bearers to form the conduit. The spacers 15 may be integral with the bearers, in which case they are broken away after the concrete has set. Keying means 14 are provided on the bearers to key them to the cast concrete 11. Seating surfaces 13 may be provided on the bearers to coact with similar seating surfaces on the closure 21, and ribs 16 on the bearers engage with corresponding recesses in the closure to prevent longitudinal movement of the closure sections.
