Abstract
389,398. Vehicle-stands. ASTLE, B. and WESTWOOD & CO., Ltd., J., Napier Yard, Millwall, London. Sept. 15, 1932, No. 25717. [Class 79 (iii).] A portable and readily stowable vehicle-stand comprises separate wheel runways 4 of pressed steel plate, preferably of about 14 gauge, of flat-bottomed trough-like form with the sides continued outwardly into horizontal flanges with downwardly turned edges, as shown in Fig. 2. Each runway is formed in three sections 1, 2, 3, each welded at one end to a leg 5, 6, 7 respectively, formed of light sheet metal of about 12 gauge. Each leg is broader at base than top and comprises a central web plate 10 welded at its edges to side and bottom plates 8, 9, the side-plates being continued upwardly and welded to the sides of the appropriate runway section. The leg 7 welded to the end of the section 3 is provided with a single reinforcing bridge-piece 11. The legs 5, 6 are each provided with two bridge-pieces, to one 14 of which the appropriate runway section 2 is welded whilst the other, 13, supports and holds the downwardly turned end 16 of the adjacent section 3. When dismantled, the sections, each with its attached leg, may be nested together.
