[Class 20 (i)] , A grave surround has curbs A, B and optionally a head-piece C, formed of metal which may be.rolled, pressed or cast, the four corners of the surround being connected together, e.g. by bolts, screws or welding, or by pressing. The side curbs may be formed of inverted trough section with side faces a, a<1>, a sloping face a<2> and a top face a<3> the open base being bridged at intervals by strengthening members secured by welding. The top faces a<3> are set down at the end, to a depth equal to the thickness of the metal, to seat under the top face b<3> of the foot curb, bolt holes being provided in the overlapping portions of the side and foot curbs. The corners of the surround are enclosed by corner pieces E having sloping faces to engage the inclined faces a<2>, b<2> on the curbs, and a cap F through which passes a bolt securing the curbs and corner piece together. The head-piece may be secured to the side curbs by brackets G. The various parts may each be formed from shaped blanks pressed to the required form and welded where edges meet. They may be of mild steel, galvanised or sheradised and the outer surfaces may be sheradised, bronzed, or covered with vitreous &c. enamel which may be designed to imitate marble or other stone. Inscriptions may be written or embossed on the head-piece or on a detachable plate.
