Abstract
389,196. Paper machines. INTERNATIONAL GENERAL ELECTRIC CO., Inc., 120, Broadway, New York, U.S.A.- (Assignees of Allgemeine Elektricitõts-Ges.; 2, Friedrich Karl-Ufer, Berlin.) Dec. 7, 1931, No. 33917. Convention date, Dec. 8, 1930. [Class 96.] In a paper machine &c. having a number of independently driven units, the web is kept in tension in spite of slight variation in the relative speeds of the units, by a stream of air directed on to loops 5 of web formed between pairs of guiding rollers &c. 8. The air may be supplied to nozzles 6 by a fan coupled to the driving gear of the machine, and may be heated. It may also ventilate the driving motors of the machine before it reaches the nozzles. The nozzles may be so arranged that if the web breaks, its free end is blown in such a direction as to prevent it winding on any of the rotating rollers of the machine.
