Abstract

386,714. Maintaining proportional speeds. INTERNATIONAL GENERAL ELECTRIC CO., Inc., 120, Broadway, New York, U.S.A.-(Assignees of Allgemeine Elektricitõts-Ges.; 2, Friedrich Karl-Ufer, Berlin.) Sept. 16, 1931, No. 25960. Convention date, Sept. 18, 1930. Drawings to Specification. [Class 38 (iii).] In a multi-motor drive for paper-making machines, the motors of the first or second drying group are provided with speed equalizing devices, but the motors of the intermediate drives are operated without such devices. The speed equalizing devices may be of the electrical differential type, with coned pulley drives. Some or all of the motors which have no speed equalizing devices are compound wound, and may be provided with adjustable field resistances. The tension adjusting means of the calender speed regulating device may be driven by a motor controlled by a relay responsive to the armature and field currents of the motor driving the first or second drying group.
