Abstract
389,170. Thermionic valves. M-O VALVE CO., Ltd., Marconi House, Strand, London, EDEN, C. G. and SMITHELLS, C. J., c/o General Electric Co., Wembley, Middlesex. Oct. 28, 1931, No. 29903. [Class 39 (i).] In a valve in which one of the electrodes forms part of the envelope, one or more internal electrodes are spaced by members at each end adapted to fit inside and abut against the interior of the electrode forming part of the envelope or a part secured thereto. As shown, an outer grid 13 has a cap 12 provided with a wire projection 14, which passes through a hole in a mica spacer 15 fitting in the anode 1. The lower end of the grid 13 is secured to a metal cylinder 17 having tongues 18 bent back to form springs abutting against the glass portion 2 of the envelope, one 19 of the tongues being extended to form a connection to a lead. The inner grid 3 and an indirectly-heated cathode 6 are spaced from the outer grid 13 and from the cylinder 17 by mica distance pieces 5, 10 respectively. In another valve an indirectly heated cathode and a grid are spaced by mica distance pieces fitting inside an anode.
