Abstract

389,141. Thermal switches. AKTIEBOLAGET BIRKA REGULATOR, 48, Surbrunnsgatan, Stockholm. Sept. 11, 1931, No. 25551. Convention date, Sept. 16, 1930. [Class 38 (v).] The heat-sensitive element of a thermal switch consists of a thin wire 13 attached at one end 12 to an insulating base 2 and at the other end to a pin 10 on a contact-lever 5 having a contact 3 co-operating with a spring mounted contact 4 carried by the base... The wire 13 is heated by radiation from a heating element 15 mounted on a capillary tube 14 surrounding the wire, and on an increase in temperature the switch opens under the actionof a spring 17. To assist the transference of heat from the heater to the wire, the switch is mounted in a sealed container which may be evacuated or contain an inert gas such as hydrogen, and the wire is blackened or oxidized.
