Abstract

169,696. Aktiebolaget Birka Regulator, (Assignees of Appelberg, A. O., and Gilliver, G.). Sept. 30, 1920, [Convention date]. Thermal switches.-A thermal switch consisting of two contacts and a bimetallic or other operating member is enclosed in a receptacle filled with rarefied or inert gas, and is employed for controlling the supply of current to flat-irons, soldering-irons, cooking apparatus &c. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 (3) (a) describes a form of switch shown in Fig. 1 (Cancelled). A glass tube 5 has sealed-in wires leading to two contacts 1, 2, one of which is mounted on a resilient plate 4 so that it is kept pressed against the other until deflected by the bending of a bimetallic strip 6 which receives heat from adjacent bodies. In modified constructions separate heating coils mav be provided. A metal enclosure may be used instead of glass. The invention may also be employed as a self interrupting current supply limiter. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
