Abstract
388,852. Calculating- apparatus - WALDRAM, P. J., 9, Gray's Inn Square, London. Oct. 19, 1931, No. 29047. [Class 106 (i).] The daylight illumination of, say, a desk in a room is measured by means of a projecting apparatus throwing an image of the available sky on a screen provided with a chart enabling this image to be read in terms of the ratio to the maximum illumination possible from a complete sky. The lens 14 mounted in one side of a triangular casing throws an image on a mirror 21 which reflects it upon a ground glass screen 19 removably carried by another side of the casing and shielded by a pivoted hood 22. To the base of the casing is pivoted a pair of flaps 26 and by suitable disposition of these the casing may be supported with the lens axis horizontal or vertical. Fig. 6 shows a chart designed for the apparatus when in the position shown in Fig. 1, each small area in the chart being equivalent to À1 per cent cill ratio. The glass screen may be replaced by a photographic film or plate.
