Abstract

A composition for lining pipes &c. consists of pitch, asphalt, and a phenol-aldehyde condensation product of the A class. The mixture is heated to convert the condensation product into the elastic flexible solid form. In the preferred method of procedure 200 lb. of pitch are mixed with 10-80 lb. of asphalt and 5-30 lb. of phenol-aldehyde in viscous liquid form. The mixture is heated to 450 DEG C., cooled, and again heated to 425 DEG C.
