Abstract
388,627. Removal of solid or liquid particles from gas or vapours. HABER, E., 20, Winklerstrasse, Grunewald, Berlin. June 13, 1932, No. 16669. Convention date, June 12, 1931. [Class 8 (ii).] For removing solid or liquid particles from gases or vapours which are passed through a conduit to subdivide into two-part flows, a conduit for conveying and dividing the medium has apertures one behind the other in the longitudinal direction uniformly distributed over the circumference, the greater part of the medium being deflected in an outward direction in cleaned form through the apertures whereas the solid or liquid particles are carried on by the remaining quantity of medium in the direction of the main conduit. The gases to be cleaned pass in the direction 2 along a conduit 1 and the major part passes away through apertures 4 in the direction of the arrow 5 whilst the lesser part taking with it foreign matter passes in the direction 7 at the outlet end 6 of the conduit. The conduit 12 may be made up of concentric cones 14 thus providing the circumferential apertures 17. The diameter of the conduit containing the apertures may be constant or of diminishing value. Instead of frusta of cones, regular hexagonal or pyramidal-sided members may be used. For the purpose of building up a conduit the frusta 51 may be positioned by side-plates 52, the sideplates being held together by a ring 59 at the smaller end and secured by lugs 55 to the main conduit at the larger end. In an alternative construction the conduit is made up of a continuous spiral member 71 of reducing diameter, the upper end 75 of which is adjustable by a screw and nut mechanism 84, whereby the sizes of the apertures 87 can be adjusted. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 comprises also an arrangement whereby the gases to be purified enter a closed-ended perforated conduit from the outside. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
