Abstract

388,490. Upholstery. LUNGHI, P., 70, Kings Road, Camden Town, London, and LONDON GENERAL OMNIBUS .CO., Ltd., 55, Broadway, Westminster. Nov. 9. 1931, No. 30979. [Class 52 (iv).] The detachable bottom (and/or back) of a chair seat, for example, for omnibuses, is secured in position by a cord or strip passing around a considerable portion of the periphery of the bottom and adjacent frame and adapted to be tensioned to hold the bottom to the frame. As shown in Fig. 1, the cord 28 is threaded through the hem of an edging flap 26 depending from the bottom 24 and terminates at each end in a button 29, Fig. 8, detachably held to a socket 30 on the frame by a radially slotted removable plug 32. The cord passes, at its middle, around a pulley 36 carried by a threaded bolt 37 so that when a nut 38 is turned the cord is tightened and grips the flap to a groove in the frame. Similar means are described for securing the back 25 in position, a tensioning device being provided at one or each end of the cord.
