Abstract
387,804. Pipe joints. REPLOGLE, D. B., 940, Arlington Avenue, Berkeley, California, U.S.A. Dec. 15, 1931, No. 34754. [Class 99 (i).] A pipe joint is formed by cutting obliquely the ends to be jointed and swaging the ellipses thus produced to obtain a cylindrical shape, the diameter of which is at least as great as that of the body of the pipe and may be substantially a mean proportional between the major and minor axes of the ellipse ; the ends are secured respectively to ring members 6, 7 one of which is formed with an outstanding flange 9 embraced by a U-shaped flange 8 on the other member which swivels on it. A packing wire or ring may be disposed between the engaging flanges. In a modification, outstanding flanges are formed on the pipes themselves and are secured by a U-section ring.
