Description
151353 i151353 i
The present invention relates to a pipe joint between two pipe lengths which abut each other at their end faces and whose end faces lie in planes which are inclined with respect to the respective longitudinal axes of the pipe lengths and in these planes have circular inner faces.
In particular, the invention finds application, but not exclusively, for the connection of plastic pipes used in underground pipelines, e.g., toilet and sewage drains.
British Patent Specification No. 392,734 discloses a pipe assembly of the kind mentioned above. The pipe lengths forming this known connection are at the end faces at which the pipe lengths abut are formed with an elliptical cross section perpendicular to the respective longitudinal axes of the pipe lengths. The end faces of the pipe lengths opposite the end faces at which the pipe lengths abut, lie in planes perpendicular to the respective longitudinal axes 15 of the pipe lengths and form end faces for connection with conventional straight pipe lengths with circular inner and outer faces. These known pipe joint pipe lengths are, as will be understood, of a complicated geometric design, as the outer surfaces of the pipe lengths form a transition from a circular generating or outer cross-sectional surface to an elliptical producing or inclined outer sectional surface. This complicated geometric design leads, firstly, to certain production techniques not applicable in the manufacture of such pipe lengths, for example extrusion, which makes it difficult to manufacture such pipe lengths, for example in plastic, and secondly, when the pipe lengths are 25 assembled and further connected to other pipe lengths having circular inner and outer cross-sectional surfaces, a non-continuous outer surface appears. This non-continuous outer surface is not visually attractive in itself, and furthermore makes it difficult to insulate a pipe joint established with these known pipe lengths, as prefabricated insulating bushes with circular inner surfaces cannot be used, since the outer surface of these pipe lengths varies from a circular cross-section to an elliptical cross section.

The object of the present invention is to provide pipe lengths which enable a pipe joint of the type mentioned initially with these pipe lengths to be established, which pipe lengths, when interconnected, form a circular outer surface.
This object is achieved with a pipe assembly which is in accordance with the invention is characterized in that the wall thickness of each of the pipe lengths at the location adjacent to the end surface varies circumferentially in such a way that each pipe length perpendicular to the longitudinal axis has a circular outer cross-sectional surface.
With the design characteristic of the invention in the pipe lengths in the pipe assembly according to the invention, the disadvantages described above in terms of production technique and outer form are eliminated by the pipe length known from the above-mentioned British patent specification.
Advantageously, the pipe assembly comprises 15 coupling means arranged between the pipe lengths, which, at least when the pipe lengths are first coupled, allow one pipe length to be rotated about its longitudinal axis relative to the other pipe length in such a way that the abutting end faces are brought together. to slide over each other so that the angular orientation of the two tubing lengths is changed.
In accordance with a first embodiment of the pipe assembly according to the invention, the coupling means has a plug part on one pipe length and a complementary receiving part on the other of the pipe lengths. The insert and receive portions may be formed integrally with said pipe lengths, the insert portion comprising a sleeve enclosing the associated pipe length and the receiving portion comprising a sleeve-shaped extension projecting from the end surface of the associated pipe length.
The sleeve and the cooperating sleeve extension can be fixed relative to each other, for example, by welding by means of a solvent, after the pipe lengths have been brought into the desired angular orientation, or the sleeve and sleeve-shaped extension and thus the associated pipe lengths can be fixed. the site is locked relative to each other, the cuff being arranged to be locked in a snap-lock fit in the sleeve-shaped extension.
In accordance with another embodiment of the pipe assembly according to the invention, the pipe lengths on their outer surfaces are formed with peripherally extending flanges, the coupling means being arranged to engage with these flanges in such a way that the pipe lengths are held together.
In this embodiment, the pipe lengths can also be hermetically connected to one another by direct connection, for example by welding together by means of a solvent after the pipe lengths have been adjusted to the desired angular orientation. In accordance with a further embodiment of the pipe assembly according to the invention, there is located between the flanges a sealing ring which is held compressed by the coupling means and serves to seal the connection between the pipe lengths. The coupling means, in accordance with this embodiment of the pipe assembly according to the invention, may comprise a divided collar with a gutter-shaped cross section, the side walls of which engage the facing faces of the flanges and means for holding the parts of the collar together after they have been placed on the pipe-20. lengths.
The means for holding the parts of the collar together may further comprise a band extending circumferentially around the collar which is inserted with a pressing fit over it, the belt being advantageously having beads formed along its two lateral edges, which are disposed on each of its sides. side of the collar and serves to hold it in place, or the parts of the collar may form at the assembly site a radially projecting projection, on which the means for holding the collar parts together are provided with a press fit, the projections further having a dovetail-shaped cross-section, the means for holding the 30 parts of the claim together may comprise clamps with complementary dovetail-shaped grooves.
1-4 illustrerer princippet for opfindelsen, 4 151353 medens fig. 5-11 viser udførelsesformer for rørsamlingen ifølge opfindelsen. The invention will now be explained in more detail with reference to the drawing, in which 1-4 illustrate the principle of the invention, while FIG. 5-11 show embodiments of the pipe assembly according to the invention.
1, fig. 10.In the drawing, FIG. 1 shows one of the pipe lengths in a direction perpendicular to the plane of its 5 oblique end faces; FIG. 2 is a sectional view taken along line A-A of FIG. 1, FIG. 3 shows the one shown in FIG. 2 in the direction shown by the arrow Z, FIG. 4 different angular orientations with which the two pipe lengths 10 can be connected to each other; 5 is a section through a first embodiment of the pipe assembly according to the invention with a coupling type welded by means of solvent; FIG. 6 shows one of the lengths of pipes in the arrow Y in FIG. 5, FIG. 7 is a section through another embodiment; FIG. 8 is an enlarged sectional view of part of the second embodiment taken along line B-B in FIG. 9, FIG. 9 is a sectional view along lines C-C of FIG. 8, 20 FIG. 10 is a section through a third embodiment of the pipe assembly according to the invention along the line D-D in FIG. 11, and FIG. Π shows a section along line E-E in fig. 10th
I fig. Hvis de to rørlængder samles således, at de to endeflader ligger an mod hinanden, og rørlængden 2 drejes om sin længdeakse, vil endefladerne glide langs hinanden på en sådan måde, at rørlængden 2 bringes til 30 at indtage forskellige vinkelorienteringer i forhold til rørlængden 1.In FIG. 1-4, two pipe lengths 1 and 2 are shown which have circular outer cross-sectional surfaces and are of plastic material and whose end faces are designed to lie in planes inclined to the respective longitudinal axes 3 and 4 and forming the same angle with these. If the two pipe lengths are joined together so that the two end faces abut and the pipe length 2 is rotated about its longitudinal axis, the end faces will slide along each other in such a way that the pipe length 2 is caused to take different angular orientations with respect to the pipe length 1.
Fig. 4 viser tre sådanne vinkelorienteringer. Under én hel omdrejning vil rørlængden 2's akse 4 beskrive en kegleflade.FIG. 4 shows three such angular orientations. During one full turn, the axis 4 of the pipe length 2 will describe a cone surface.
If the wall thickness of the pipe lengths 1 and 2 is uniform at the end faces, due to the elliptical cross sections at their inclined end faces, a step will occur at the joint between the two pipe lengths when these are not coaxial. To avoid this, the wall thickness of the pipe lengths varies such that the inner surfaces of the pipe lengths in the planes of the inclined end surfaces are circular. In FIG. 1, 2 and 3 show how this can be achieved. If the wall thickness is uniform, the large axis of the elliptical cross section will be KL and the small axis will be MN.
In order to form a circle with center O and radius OK, it is necessary to make the wall thinner as shown by a dotted line and so that = KL.
For a pipe length, the inside diameter of which is, for example, 103 mm and the end faces forming an angle o = 11 1/4 °, it can be calculated that KL = mV = 105.02 mm.
To enable coupling of the two pipe lengths 1 and 2, the pipe length 1 is provided with a sleeve 6 integrally formed with the pipe piece 1, which encloses the pipe length 1, and the pipe length 2 is provided with a one-piece molded projection 7 extending from the end piece of the pipe piece 7. accommodating the sleeve 6. To enable rotation of the tube length 2 about its longitudinal axis 4 with respect to the second tube length 1 to produce a desired angle between the tube lengths, the engaging surfaces of the sleeve 6 and the sleeve 7 form a cone whose axis coincides with the axis of the cone produced by the longitudinal axis 4 of the tube length 2 as this tube length 2 is rotated.
6 udformet med 1 afbrydelser 8 . 1The sleeve-shaped extension 7 is provided at its outer edge with a lip 8 which snaps in behind the rear edge of the cuff 6. In order to increase the flexibility of the lip 8, as shown in FIG. 6 designed with 1 interruptions 8. 1
The engaging surfaces of the sleeve 6 and the sleeve 7 are applied solvent so that the pipe lengths, after being placed in the desired angular position, are welded together.
6 1513536 151353
As shown in FIG. 5, the pipe length 2 at the end opposite the end connected to the pipe length 1 is formed with a conventional sleeve for accommodating a pin on another pipe length. It could instead be designed as a pin, as is the case with the end of the pipe length 1 facing away from the pipe assembly. The actual pipe lengths 1 and 2 can be formed with different lengths, but they are advantageously made relatively short, so that they can conveniently form between two straight pipe lengths a variable angle pipe bending piece.
In this embodiment, the pipe lengths 1 and 2 are formed at their opposite end faces by flanges 9 and 10 which, when the two pipe lengths are assembled, form a gutter for applying a sealing ring 12. The two pipe lengths 1 and 2 are joined together. interconnected by means of a coupling comprising a collar 13 having a gutter-shaped cross section, the side walls 14 and 15 engaging with the laterally facing side faces of the flanges 9 and 10.
Kraven. The collar. 13 is slit so that it can be inserted around the pipe lengths 1 and 2, and one half of this collar is shown in FIG.
The collar 13 is held together by a circumferential plastic band 16 which can be pushed in over the collar so that its two beads 17 and 18 lie on each side of the collar 13.
1 2 3 4 5 6The band 16 has such elasticity that it can be deformed sufficiently that one of the beads can be inserted over the collar. 1 2 3 4 5 6
Klemmerne 23 holdes ved enderne på plads på kraven ved hjælp af en lille vulst 24 og en endevæg 25.FIG. 10 and 11 show an embodiment similar to that of FIG. 7-9 show 2 te, having also flanges 9 and 10 and a sealing ring 12. There is also a slotted collar 20 having the same function as the 4 collar 13. However, in this embodiment, the two parts of the collar 5 are at their diametrically opposite connecting points 6 provided with projections which together form a dovetail 22, as can be seen in FIG. 11. Plastic clamps 23 having a gutter tail complementary to the dovetail are inserted over the dovetails 22 and serve to hold the collar 20 together. The clamps 23 are held in place at the ends of the collar by a small bead 24 and an end wall 25.
